Real Steel and Battleship, Man up!

Realsteel Real Steel. Not what I was expecting, but found entertaining and action packed. Starring Hugh Jackman as Charlie Kenton a man who knows his boxing but now is in charge of a robot which is a boxer. If you like boxing this movie is a nice twist into a different boxing world. Dakota Goyo plays his son.

battleshipBattleship.Even though I was disappointed when “True Blood’s” Alexander SkarsgĂ„rd get’s snuffed in the first part of the film, the movie as a whole was intense and tactical. I did like the nod to the game with the grid played out tactics. The cast makes this movie great to watch, Taylor Kitsch “John Carter” and Liam Neeson, plus a great bit of acting by Gregory D. Gadson.

Sherlock Holmes….more Modern.

sherlockTwo new versions of Sherlock Holmes out there to enjoy.
I’ve been caught by the BBC Sherlock version more than the other. Benedict Cumberbatch is Sherlock with his blog seems slightly jealous of Watson’s (Martin Freeman) blog which gets a number of visitors. Texting instead of sending telegrams. The first episode of this series brought you to the modernized version of Sherlock so fast it felt comfortable by the tie the episode was over. I spent a week getting caught up to the end of the second season.
While we wait for Cumberbatch and Freeman to return to filming this series I would like to mention that both are in the next movie in the Hobbit series, and Cumberbatch is in the next movie in the Star Trek series.

The man behind A Few Good Men, Aaron Sorkin.

sorkinWell if you haven’t heard the name you have missed out on a great writer. Aaron Sorkin is the man behind, “A Few Good Men”, “Moneyball”, “The Social Network”, and some great TV shows as well, “West Wing”, “Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip”, and “The Newsroom”, just to name a few.

If you haven’t seen any of these they are all worth watching.

I just spent the better part of a week watching “Studio 60” with Matthew Perry and wished the series hadn’t been cancelled.

I can’t wait to see the new season of “The Newsroom” with Jeff Daniels.

I hope we see more great stuff from Aaron Sorkin in the future.
