Murder, morbid sense of humor maybe

I have always had a unusual sense of humor. Monty python was part of those things I enjoyed growing up. Murder mysteries have been something I like to read as well as watch. Even some of my own artwork and writing lent itself to the dark humor of life.

While they has been nothing funny about what we have all been going through in the last year some shows embraced it and made sure we would have it as part of there series for future generations. The Good Doctor, Bull and Prodigal Son, just to name a few.

But the subject today is Prodigal Son now back for season 2. I do like how this series had been setup and all the turns it has taken to get to this new season. If you have managed to keep up with all that has been thrown at you and what goes on in his subconscious mind its been better than most.

Im looking forward to a bright season.

Fury & Gone Girl

Fury, starring Brad Pitt and Logan Lerman. A war picture about a single tank. Showing those fleeting moments of companion during the horrors of war. The rookie grows up fast in this story. Worth the watch, even if it does have Shia LaBeouf in it.
Gone Girl starring Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike. Truly disappointed with Ben Affleck’s performance. Seemed like he was just going through the motions. As for Rosamund, I found her performance chilling. The person she plays is just calculating and truly horrible. Worth watching just for her performance.
Here is something funny just for a breather.

The Oxford Murders and Riddle.

Well if you haven’t heard of either one don’t be shocked.
The Oxford Murders stars John Hurt and Elijah Woods, its about a grad student from the US meeting the professor he wants to work with and ends up being involved in a weird series of murders. While I found the twists interesting it is a watch once movie. You may actually figure this one out before the end.
Riddle stars Elisabeth Harnois, Diora Baird, Bryan Lillis, Ben Bledsoe and Val Kilmer. A girl goes searching for her missing brother. Val doesn’t have a great role in this and really not a big role. Its a horror mystery, the plot wasn’t great this would be an ok movie if you are not paying for it and are having beers and popcorn with friends.

If Daniel Craig retires as James Bond maybe Rupert Penry-Jones?

If you haven’t seen or heard of this dashing British Actor then where have you been hiding. He has been in a number of good TV series and he is very talented. MI-5, Whitechapel, The 39 Steps and Silk just to name some of his more recent shows. Take a look and see what you think.

Prometheus ok just saw to many aliens sort of.

For those of use who have seen every Alien film made, who didn’t see this coming. Ok, I get that this was supposed to stand on it’s own and not exactly be the prequel but, 42 mins into the movie I could see in the environment (building) that it had come full circle with the face of the offspring of Ripley being the top of the building. Other than that I did watch it twice and saw much more in the background that I had missed the first time. Bottom line it’s interesting but wasn’t that impressed.

Dolan’s Cadillac, interesting to watch and think on.

Maybe not the most famous or well received Christian Slater and Wes Bentley movie but this story based on a Stephen King short story and with a nod to a much older story by Poe “The Cask of Amontillado” can be a thought provoking piece to discuss with your friends on a dramatic movie night.
