BOSS LEVEL

If you haven’t seen this you really need to give it a try. I went into this really thinking game movie and just something to fill a rather boring day. I laughed and enjoyed how off the wall it really was and how hard he was working to figure it all out.

Take the time, hope you enjoy it.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens

forceawakens First let me say that I stood in line for the very first episode of the saga. With that said, some of us are a little disappointed with this installment. I don’t hate but there again I don’t love it. Now I also have to say I haven’t been reading the books. For those of you that read the Percy Jackson series and hated the movies I total get why some people never want to read the books if they see the movies or vica versa. But like some people pointed out you may never get the whole story if you don’t. So I say to you guys which books do I read? But here again I want to know what other people thought. I get this movie is for a new generation and for them to have their own saga. Sounds like there should be a but after that and well yes, I’d like to hear from other people about what they thought. One thing that did bother me was the CGI at the end, sorry his head shouldn’t be that so big, body proportions people. That’s all I will say cause if you haven’t seen it maybe you should and make up your own mind.

Interstellar.Complicated?

interstellar Well some people seem a bit confused and I don’t blame them if you don’t have a physics background this could be a hard movie to get your head around. It was still worth watching but some explanation is required. It stars Matthew McConaughey and Anne Hathaway, but we must mention Matt Damon is in it as well. (I’m kinda glad I saw The Martian before this.) Give it a view if you haven’t, but don’t get frustrated if there is something that’s a little over your head, plenty of sites explain it after you watch it.

The Martian

In some way this movie reminded me of “Castaway.” With humor and great amount suspense this movie was a blast. Matt Damon does a wonderful job of making us believe he is marooned on Mars. Even though some of us had enough information to know what things are not believable but it’s still a good movie. You should see it if you haven’t. Enjoy!

Maleficent and How to Train Your Dragon 2

maleificantMaleficent was a good twist on what most people think of the traditional story of Sleeping Beauty. My only grip is that of the fairy purist. Fairy’s don’t have bird wings, ever! But I did like this story anyway, cause the original is horrifying for children. Angelina gave a great performance, and it also had it’s funny moments. howtotrain2How to Train your Dragon 2, was as good as the first even if I did find some of it a little slow going. Toothless always steals the show and that says alot for an animated dragon. Jay Barcuchel makes a great voice for Hiccup, along with everyone else from the original cast, the addition of Cate Blanchett as Hiccup’s mother was marvelous. Saw these as a double feature, both have their tear jerking moments. Enjoy some movies today!

The Last Stand & Oblivion, not what I expected.

thelaststandIf you haven’t seen this one with A. Schwarzenegger, Johnny Knoxville and an interesting assorted cast, it’s worth a look, just don’t take it too seriously. It has humor as well as some other surprises that made it good for a late afternoon flick.
oblivionI’ve never been a huge Tom Cruise fan but on occasion he does surprise me. Even thought I found some of this movie predictable and the plot twist I figured out early I did find this to be one of the better Tom Cruise movies. I did like Minority Report and his weird rock star in Rock of Ages. If your not a big fan either you might try one of these and see what you think.

Young Sherlock Holmes & The Librarian & The Adventurer.

Well if you are a fan of the first two you might like the third, for those of you that haven’t seen any of these here is a little background. Three movies that have some Indiana Jones heart in them.
youngsherlockYoung Sherlock Holmes came out in 1985, this tale shows a different side to Sherlock with adventure and love in a mystery with his very young friend who will become Dr. Watson. Staring Nicholas Rowe and Alan Cox. thelibrarianquestThe Librarian is a series of TV movies staring Noah Wyle and came out in 2000’s. This is a group unlike Indiana Jones that searches for antiquities that may harm the world if it were not for the Librarians who go and find them and put them in a safe place. theadventurerThe Adventurer: The Curse of the Midas Box, involves the sons of a antiquities agent and an Sherlock/Indiana Jones agent who is after the bad guys. Staring Aneurin Barnard from The White Queen he is one of the sons who searches for his brother who has been taken by the bad guys and helps find the Midas Box. Michael Sheen plays the agent with nine lives. Oddly enough most critics have rate all of these movies about the same. If your young or young at heart you should enjoy all of these. Not big budget but rather entertaining for a quite afternoon.

Simon Peg & Nick Frost: Hot Fuzz & The World’s End

hotfuzzHot Fuzz and The World’s End are two funny and connected movies. They are part of what has been termed the Cornetto Trilogy, which Shaun of the Dead is a part of. For those of you that don’t know what a Cornetto is, it’s a waffle cone ice cream. The films revolve around small garden communities and gags about jumping fences. Peoples names in The World’s End have royal last names and in Hot Fuzz have horror connotation last names. If you haven’t seen either of these it is worth watching along with Shaun of the Dead. Drinking and pubs are also part of this fun set of films.worldsend So have some fun, grab a pint of ale, or ice cream and enjoy the trilogy.

Three Zombie flicks I do like.

Ok I’ll say it, I’m not a huge fan of Zombie movie, especially fast zombies(it’s just wrong.)
I understand vampires, but zombies still confuse me on some level.
I did happen to like these three movie though. Cause they have humor, a little romance, some horror and Twinkies have been immortalized in one of these flicks.
ShawnShawn of the Dead, OK I will be honest here I like most movies with Simon Pegg and his side kick Nick Frost.
Warm BodieswarmbodiesRomeo and Juliet with a big twist. Just didn’t expect to see John Malkovich in this.
Zombieland zombielandOh the constant search for Twinkies.
Make a day of it. Enjoy.
